In KS2 (years 3-6) there are ongoing assessments throughout the year, to ensure that the children are on track, enabling staff to help those who are struggling and to stretch those who are finding the work easy. Throughout KS2 the children are streamed for Maths Investigation lessons, enabling younger, gifted and talented pupils to challenge themselves by working with older children.
In Year 4 children continue to do independent research in their topic work. More writing is expected than in Year 3.
Reading is still an important part of the curriculum. The children will continue to bring home a book which we expect them to read regularly.
German is added to the curriculum. French is continued. During the year the children will graduate to writing in a handwriting pen in all subjects as their writing becomes the correct size and letters are formed correctly.
The children enjoy a second opportunity to have a night away during our two day activity based event which is thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Topics covered include:
- Weston Super Mare
- The changing role of the monarchy
- North America
- Different Christian denominations
- The Human Body
- Food Chains
Weekly homework is set which includes spellings to learn as well as other work related to what we are learning in school.
